Questions & Answers

For the April 2019 Election

What is the importance of the Village Trustees to residents of Rantoul?

The trustees are your community corporate authority, responsible for creating and implementing strategies, policies and making public financial decisions that impact the daily lives of those that own or rent homes and choose to operate businesses in Rantoul. Community feedback is required in order for our trustees to be effective.

Why are you qualified to be a Village Trustee?

I was raised in Rantoul, am a dedicated community volunteer and am looking to continue my public service by advocating for my community and all its members.

If elected, what is something you want to accomplish on the Board of Trustees, and how long will it take?

My personal outreach efforts have increased, even slightly, the number of registered voters in Rantoul. The number of citizens actively participating in our local political scene is critically low - around 14%. I intend to continue reaching out to neighborhoods and targeting our large rental population to get as many people as possible invested in the local policy formation that impacts their daily lives. To introduce regularly scheduled town halls, in varying locations to make access convenient to residents from all areas, is a goal I think can be accomplished very quickly, within the first few months of being elected. To keep the public interested will require progress on projects made possible with public funds and will continue to be an ongoing effort.

Is there anything else you would like to say to an undecided voter?

Thank you for researching your options and investing time in the political process. I would encourage you to reach out to all candidates individually to understand their specific points of view and priorities as this questionnaire doesn't offer answers to specific questions regarding local priorities that may impact you or your neighborhood.
