Elect Me

Darlene Kloeppel

County Executive Candidate

Questions & Answers

You are unopposed in the upcoming Primary Election, why is it important for your Champaign County constituents to still vote in the March 20th Election?

It’s important because the primary election decides who is best to go up against the other party’s candidate in the general election. All the constituents in my race for County Executive will also vote in other races that have more than one Democratic candidate.

Is there a particular seat or race on the Democrat Primary ballot that you think is important for your Champaign County constituents to pay attention to?

The races for Governor and District 113 are particularly hot this year, and since I’ll be working with the County Board as County Executive, I’d like voters to pay attention to candidates running in County Board Districts 6 and 10, which have more than one Democrat running.

Any other information you would like to add for undecided voters in Champaign County?

Meeting candidates, social media and websites offer opportunities for undecided voters to learn more about both contested and uncontested candidates, especially for those races where the candidates may be less well-known, like judges, or where there are newcomers to the public arena (like myself). If you don’t decide in time to vote in a party primary, the party’s candidate will be chosen without you, but the information also will help you make a better-informed decision in the November general election.
