What is the importance of the Illinois Governor to your constituents in Champaign County?

Champaign County is a diverse region. The county has rich farmland, prosperous agribusiness, a prestigious university, and poverty. As your next governor, I have a background and understanding to help all constituents who live in this diverse county.

Why are you qualified to be Governor?

My qualifications to become governor are inclusive of twenty years as a local elected official serving on a city council, township supervisor, county board representative, and a county-wide elected official. I understand how government works. I served statewide as the President of the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendent of Schools (2010-2012). My entire professional career has been in public education. For twenty-eight years, I was a Career and Technical teacher. For the past ten years, I have been elected to be the Madison County Regional Superintendent of Schools. I hold a Doctorate of Education degree and I have been a lifelong resident of Illinois.

What is a key policy difference between you and your Primary Opponent[s]?

My vision of Illinois looks to develop policies that will improve the image of the state. As governor, my policies will be developed from a working knowledge of government experience and public service. I am a strong advocate for organized labor. On March 21st, I signed a pledge saying "No" to Right-to-Work in Illinois. I believe we can further develop our economy and maintain workers rights in Illinois. My key economic policy will be to develop a marketing plan to promote Illinois based on a highly skilled workforce, quality infrastructure, and efficient permitting for business development.

Is there anything else you would like to say to an undecided voter in Champaign County?

I own an Illinois Centennial Farm in Madison County. My family has been residents of this state for four generations. We are not leaving Illinois. My quest to become governor is to improve the conditions of Illinois and make it a prosperous state. As governor, I will return dignity to this office.
