Governor Candidate |
|
What is the importance of the Illinois Governor to your constituents in Champaign County? |
It is important that the Governor represent the Downstate area including Champaign Co. better than in the past. This part of the state has been ignored and I have a plan which I think will correct this problem.
|
Why are you qualified to be Governor? |
I have many life experiences that many people do not have: I grew up in public housing, was in 4-H,won scholarships to private schools including Harvard Med. School, was in the Army in Vietnam, am a father of 4 children and am a physician. I own a small business in Berwyn and have been active in many Democratic campaigns. Politically, I am in the middle and therefore can work better with all parties and parts of the state. |
What is a key policy difference between you and your Primary Opponent[s]? |
The main difference is my stance on taxes. I am opposed to all increases in State tax rates including flat income, graduated income, sales gas tobacco and alcohol taxes. All of my opponents have programs which will result in large increases in State, local and Federal taxes. |
Is there anything else you would like to say to an undecided voter in Champaign County? |
I believe it is time to end the so-called war on drugs in Illinois. We should legalize pot throughout the state. This will create a new multi-billion dollar cash crop down here which will relieve unemployment and finance schools and many other govt. services. |
