What is the importance of the Village Trustees to residents of Rantoul?
To ensure that their local government's actions, decisions and operations are in the best interests of its citizens and residents.
Why are you qualified to be a Village Trustee?
Besides having served as a village trustee for the last 8 years and as mayor pro-tem for the last 6, I have a masters degree in public administration and 30 years experience working throughout Rantoul as a police officer. I'm completely familiar with both the community and the workings of municipal government.
If elected, what is something you want to accomplish on the Board of Trustees, and how long will it take?
I've been working toward adopting an emerging best-practice known as a "streamlined permitting process" that encourages and facilitates new construction and significant renovation, all of which increase property values and ultimately lead to lower tax rates. I began laying the groundwork during my present term and have seen positive and promising signs, so I don't think it will take as long or be as difficult as it may have in the past.
Is there anything else you would like to say to an undecided voter?
Like many people, my wife and I came to Rantoul in the Air Force and chose to make it home. We raised two good kids in Rantoul and now we have grandkids growing up here. Like you, we have a vested interest in our town and its future.
