What is the importance of an IL State Representative to your constituents in Champaign County?

An Illinois State Representative is critically important to the Constituents of Champaign and Vermilion Counties. The person elected to the 104th district will be an important voice for both of those Counties on important decisions that will have influence on the future direction of the State. We need to elect someone who will be a strong advocate for the things that will help this area of our State. This is an important opportunity to elect a representative that will make sure your voice is heard loud and clear in Springfield.

Why are you qualified to be in the Illinois House of Representatives?

I have a background in production agriculture, which is the backbone of our local economy and is one of the key strengths that Illinois can utilize to grow our way out of the mess we find ourselves in. I have a great deal of positive experience in running local government. I have a track record as the County Board Chairman in Vermilion County of working with both parties to build concensus and accomplish big things. In my current role, we’ve invested in infrastructure and technology, engaged our bargaining units in a positive manner, and did all of this while decreasing General Fund expenditures.

What is a key policy difference between you and your Opponent?

I believe the way out of our current situation is to make Illinois competitive with other states as a place of opportunity. That means that first and foremost we have to take care of our unpaid bills. Second, we need reforms like property tax relief and real worker’s comp reform so that businesses will have a reason to return here. Finally, once our fiscal house is in order we need to invest in our strengths that give us a competitive edge over our neighbors, transportation infrastructure, higher education, and our Agriculture Industry.

Is there anything else you would like to say to an undecided voter in Champaign County?

I have a strong track record of accomplishments and success in Vermilion County. I am someone who works well with others and listens to people with different opinions. I use my relationship building skills to build consensus and to learn from others before making decisions. I am not afraid to make tough choices that are also the right choices for the State and for the 104th district. If you place your faith in me, I promise to do my best for you.
